A diverse landscape

The pasture, hedgerows, trees, and marshes provide a habitat for many species

Marsh Marigolds

We protect field margins to allow these large, golden flowers to thrive. Also known as Kingcup, the Marsh Marigold likes meadows, marshes, ditches and wet woodlands.

ANCIENT TREES

We farm around the old trees. Even when they finally die their trunks are left to provide a new dead wood habitat

We are surrounded by many species - here are a few we have seen in the past 12 months:

Hegdehog
Heron
Hare
Roedeer
Barn owl
Mallard
Moorhen
Swallow
Kestrel
Buzzard
Swift
Redstart
Spotted flycatcher
Blackcap
Chiffchaff
Woodpecker
Wagtail
Curlew

We have many butterflies including gatekeepers, large white ringlets, red admirals and meadow browns.

And our wildflowers thrive on our organic land: our survey in June 2022 recorded over twenty varieties including meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria), red campion (Silene dioica), and selfheal (Prunella vulgaris)
